UAB North Pavilion 6th Floor 1.5T MRI
Our project scope consisted of an interior demolition of the existing reading room and 1,108 SF of shell to create space for a new MRI procedure area. Work also included new partitions, ceilings, finishes, and concrete patching, as well as med gas and upgrades to the plumbing, fire sprinkler, fire alarm, HVAC, and electrical systems. ICRA barriers were installed and our team worked closely with the hospital and staff to mitigate noise impacts throughout the project. The new 1.5T MRI machine was lifted by crane through a 6th floor window in the west end of the hospital. Windows as well as a portion of the brick exterior were carefully removed – and later reinstalled – in order to accommodate the machine.
