The Restoration Southside Church Nursery Renovation began with the demolition of an existing 1,700-square-foot nursery building connected to the sanctuary. Shelby then rebuilt the exterior wall and constructed a new 2,000-square-foot nursery within the existing sanctuary footprint. The renovation also included three new Sunday school classrooms, a welcoming reception area, and a new ADA-compliant restroom, creating a modern children’s ministry environment designed to better serve the growing congregation.

Maintaining normal church operations was a primary project objective. To safely separate construction from occupied spaces, Shelby installed a 60-foot temporary partition that isolated the work area while worship services and ministry activities continued as scheduled. A permanent 60-foot demising wall was later constructed to provide long-term separation between the sanctuary and the new nursery. Through strategic phasing and close coordination with the church leadership, weekly worship services and community outreach programs continued without interruption. Shelby delivered a functional, welcoming space while minimizing disruption for church staff, members, and visitors throughout the three-month schedule.

This project highlights Shelby General Contractors’ expertise in renovating occupied facilities, interior renovations, and worship facility construction.
