The Dewberry Pharmacy Compounding Suite is a highly specialized healthcare renovation project consisting of approximately 400 SF of USP 800-compliant compounding space. All work was completed within an active pharmacy environment, requiring meticulous planning, strict regulatory compliance, and precise execution. The project included removal of multiple layers of existing epoxy flooring throughout the Clean Ante Room, Non-Hazardous Preparation Room, and Hazardous Preparation Room. Existing compounding hoods, along with the associated HVAC and pressure management systems, were carefully decommissioned before installation of new building finishes, engineered specifically for hazardous drug compounding environments. To meet the rigorous cleaning and infection control requirements of a modern compounding pharmacy, we installed heat-welded Altro sheet vinyl flooring and an integral floor base designed to withstand frequent terminal cleaning procedures. New drywall and Altro Hygienic Wall Panels were installed with continuous transitions from ceiling to floor, eliminating 90-degree corners in accordance with pharmacy design standards. Epoxy wall and ceiling coatings were applied to match the existing facility while providing a durable, cleanable finish. A unique challenge involved an existing building expansion joint spanning the Hazardous Preparation Room. Our team engineered and installed a custom stainless-steel C340 alloy expansion joint capable of withstanding the corrosive effects of the sporicidal disinfectants routinely used in pharmaceutical compounding environments.

Through detailed preconstruction planning, close coordination with the owner, and disciplined project execution, Shelby completed the renovation within the limited outage window, enabling the pharmacy to quickly recommission the facility and resume serving patients with minimal interruption.
